March 2018 — Siklab Atleta launches quest to bag first Olympic gold

The private sector has launched the first initiative of its kind to help the country in our
quest to win its first Olympic gold.

Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation, Inc. was launched on March 3, 2018 at the
Century Park Hotel in Manila, with the goal of supporting athletes who have the best
chance to win in the world’s most prestigious sporting event.

At the helm of the organization is Phoenix Petroleum President and CEO and
Presidential Adviser for Sports Dennis Uy.

“Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation will fuel the Philippine’s best athletes to make
the country’s dream of bagging an Olympic gold a reality,” he said. “We need to provide
our athletes the support befitting their stature as our country’s representative to the
world.”

Uy called on fellow businesses to help support the country’s best athletes in their quest
for an Olympic gold. Resources will be pooled through Siklab Atleta to provide athletes
with training equipment and facilities, coaching services, exposure to international
competitions, education, housing, and livelihood programs.

The Philippines has been in pursuit of its first ever gold medal since it first joined the
Olympics in Paris in 1924, and Siklab hopes to achieve just that through the support of
industry leaders who share the organization’s dream of winning at the Olympics.
Introduced during the launch were the athletes, who will represent the country in
archery, athletics, aquatics, boxing, cycling, canoe-kayak, gymnastics, judo, karate,
surfing, taekwondo, triathlon, weightlifting, and windsurfing. These sports and athletes

were chosen according to the fields where the Philippines have greater chances of
winning.

Among the athletes supported by Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation, Inc. are
Hidilyn Diaz for weightlifting, Nicole Tagle for archery, Shawn Cray for athletics, James
Dieparine for aquatics, John Tupas for boxing, James Delos Reyes for Karate, and
many more.

Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization,
whose main mission is to help provide scientific training, financial, and logistical support
to top-flight Filipino athletes who aim to compete in the Olympics and win the country’s
first ever gold medal.
