June 2018 — Siklab Atleta fuels the nation’s journey to Olympic gold

Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation, Inc. is betting on 29 top-flight Filipino athletes to bring home the country’s first Olympic gold medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Through a pool of funds gathered from the largest private companies in the country, Siklab Atleta has pledged to provide the country’s best-of-the-best with training equipment and facilities, coaching, exposure to international competitions, education, housing, and livelihood programs.

Screened and handpicked by the Philippine Sports Commission, the elite roster of Filipino players include champions and medalists from various international competitions such as 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz and Kristel Macrohon for weightlifting, Nicole Tagle for archery, Shawn Cray, Trenten Beram, and Ernest Obiena for athletics, James Dieparine and Nicole Olivia for aquatics, Eumir Marcial and John Tupas for boxing, Marella Salamat, Ariana Dormitrio, and Sienna Fines for cycling, Hermie Macaranas and Ojay Fuentes for canoe-kayaking, Carlos Yulo and Kaitlin de Guzman for gymnastics, Kiyomi Watanabe, Mariya Takahashi, Shugen Nakano, and Kesei Nakano for judo, James Delos Santos for karatedo, Kirstie Alora and Pauline Lopez for taekwondo, Edito Alcala and Philmar Alipayo for surfing, Kim Marngrobang for triathlon, and Geylord Coveta and Yancy Kaibigan for windsurfing.

“Our mission is very clear: to give the Philippines our first Olympic gold. We are now only two years away from potentially celebrating a historical event for Philippine sports, that’s why we established Siklab Atleta to actively pursue this advocacy and encourage every Filipino to join our cause,” Siklab Atleta chairman and Phoenix Petroleum President and CEO Dennis Uy said.

Leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Siklab Atleta will be supporting the athletes to compete and gain further exposure and experience in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines, and the 2020 Asian Beach Games.
